Two sporting schemes to share HLF funding
Two football heritage schemes in North East England have been awarded a share of nearly £70,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
The first project - History and Heritage of Wallsend Boys Club - has been awarded more than £36,000 towards the publication of a book detailing the club's history. Elsewhere, Durham Amateur Football Trust has received £32,600 towards its plans to work with volunteers to preserve and exhibit historic footballing memorabilia.
Ivor Crowther, head of the HLF in the North East, said: "These fantastic projects not only capture the North East's wealth of football history, but also play a pivotal role in the social lives of young people throughout the region."
