The archive collection of Stoke-on-Trent's Wedgwood Museum has been confirmed as one of 20 items to represent the UK's heritage on UNESCO's Memory of the World register.

More than 100,000 documents and manuscripts relating to the history of Josiah Wedgwood and his renowned pottery company form part of the attraction's collection. Wedgwood Museum director Gaye Blake Roberts said: "We made the application for inclusion in the knowledge that the collection was truly deserving of a place on the register.

"We have welcomed many researchers, both professional and amateur alike, into our archive facility in the past, and it is clear that they have recognised its importance and value." In addition to the Wedgwood Museum collection, other items to be included on the register are the death warrant of King Charles I and the Bill of Rights.
