Local views sought on leisure complex
People living in and around Ingleby Barwick in Stockton-on-Tees are being invited to give their opinions on a multi-million pound leisure centre, library and customer service point.
The borough council has arranged a drop-in session for next week (1 September 2016), so locals can tell the authority what they think about the plan that would see leisure, library and customer services under one roof.
The complex would include main and learner swimming pools, a gym, a health and fitness suite, an exercise studio, a soft play area, a community library and a customer service point.
If planning is granted it is expected that work on the site would start next year, with the building opening to the public in 2018.
Once completed, the complex would be operated by Tees Active Leisure, which already operates three fitness and leisure venues in the borough on behalf of the council.
Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s cabinet member for arts, leisure and culture, said: “I’d urge everyone living in and around Ingleby Barwick to come along to the drop-in session to find out more about the facility and see the early design proposals. We would really like to hear your views as they will help inform the planning application that we will need to submit later this year.”
The drop-in session will take place at Ingleby Barwick Library between 4pm and 7.30pm. Anyone who is unable to attend can share their views by emailing [email protected]
