Kiev stadium selected for 2018 Champions League final
Kiev’s Olympiyskyi Stadium has been selected by UEFA to host the final of the Champions League in May 2018.
The 70,000-capacity stadium is the largest in Ukraine and was recently renovated by German architecture firm GMP. It hosted the final of the 2012 European Championships, which were hosted by Ukraine and Poland.
During an Executive Committee meeting – the first following the appointment of Aleksander Ceferin as president – the Lillekula Stadium in Tallinn, Estonia, was selected to host the European Super Cup in August 2018.
In addition, Theodore Theodoridis was appointed as permanent general secretary, taking on the role vacated by Gianni Infantino when he became president of FIFA in February.
Two new members were also appointed to the Investigatory Chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body: Belgium’s Damien Neven and former Liverpool Football Club chief executive Rick Parry.
