Urban Gym Group is on the acquisition trail – planning European Expansion in health club, spa and wellness
As Urban Gym Group snaps up three new clubs, it says it is actively seeking partnerships and acquisitions, especially in the Netherlands, the UK and major European cities.
With further launches and acquisitions planned for the second half of 2025, UGG is calling for gym owners, operators and landlords with suitable sites to get in touch. It currently has more than 50 clubs and studios across major cities in the UK and the Netherlands, but is looking to expand into other regions, as well as key European cities.
Following the recent launch of Gymbox in Finsbury Park, London, the Netherlands-based fitness and wellness company has announced the acquisition of three new clubs: Health Club Jordaan, located in Amsterdam and two My Local Gym Group clubs in Leusden and Bilthoven, which are fast-growing municipalities near major urban hubs.
All three new sites will be rebranded as Trainmore, the brand which is known for allowing members to earn €1 per workout to incentivise their training. Features include complimentary protein shakes, sports water, coffee tea, and a suite of wellness and recovery services.
CEO, Neil Randall, says: “We’ve had a strong start to the year and continue to identify high-potential locations. Our mission is to enable gym-goers of all levels to experience the unique benefits of the UGG Brands.”
Based in the Netherlands, UGG operates more than 50 sites. As well as Trainmore and Gymbox, it also operates a premium fitness club, Clubsportive; a wellbeing destination, Renessence; BTY CLB and franchises of TRIB3 and PILAT3S.
Randall is part of the all keynote line-up at the HCM Summit 2025. Tickets are available now.
