Urdd to receive £250,000 investment from Sport Wales
Sport Wales has announced a £250,000 investment for the Urdd, the Welsh language youth organisation, to encourage thousands more young people to participate in sport.
The Urdd is one of the largest youth organisations in Wales and aims to give each child and young person the opportunity to participate in a Welsh-medium community sports activity.
In order to fulfil its target, the Urdd is looking to double the number of sports officers from 10 to 20 and the number of young volunteers trained to run clubs from 600 to 1,200.
Sport Wales chief executive Dr Huw Jones said: "The Urdd is a key partner in the bid to realise our vision of getting every child hooked on sport for life.
"The Urdd is a crucial sports development arm in its own right. We want to ensure that there are no barriers, including language, to sports participation for our young people."
