The iconic Abbey Road zebra crossing in St John's Wood

Tourism and heritage minister John Penrose has announced that London's iconic Abbey Road zebra crossing is now Grade II listed.

The pedestrian crossing - located in St John's Wood - was immortalised in the 1960s by The Beatles and has been listed following advice from English Heritage. It is the first site of its kind to receive such designation and reflects the crossing's cultural and historical importance.

The nearby Abbey Road studios were listed in February. Image: m.caimary
