New-look Port Lympne officially opens
Port Lympne Wild Animal Park near Hythe, Kent, has been officially relaunched, following the completion of a £1m redevelopment that aims to broaden the park's national appeal.
The attraction's safari has now been placed at the heart of the visitor experience, comprising four key on-foot zones in which guests can explore conservation efforts close-up. A newly-refurbished tiger enclosure in the Carnivore Territory was constructed by the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment.
Incorporating the adjacent disused lion enclosure, tigers are now housed in an area three times larger than the former enclosure. Elsewhere, two new restaurants with outdoor verandas and three new play areas have been created. Port Lympne managing director Bob O'Connor said: "We are hoping that this experience will put Port Lympne on the map as the must-see conservation attraction in the UK."
