Reebok Sports Club London announces £6.5m transformation
The Reebok Sports Club in London’s Canary Wharf – the UK’s ‘largest luxury health club’ – has announced a £6.5m makeover that will complete the final phase of the site’s 18-month refurbishment.
Spanning 100,000sq ft (9,290sq m) across three floors, the club has already undergone two phases of the refurbishment. These began in April 2013, with the reception area and changing rooms both being transformed.
The final phase begins on 7 July and will see the gym floor expanded by 2,000sq ft (186sq m) to make way for new improvements. The Mind and Body studio will be relocated to a newly created Natural Zone on the fourth floor, where there will be additional stretching areas, a private yoga studio and a relaxation area.
The third floor will see the introduction of a larger functional training zone, as well as a larger rig and a new X Frame for TRX individual training. In addition there will be three new Olympic-sized lifting platforms and the boxing and combat facilities will also receive an upgrade.
Other improvements will see the introduction of a personal training zone, a refurbishment of the sports hall and a revamp to the cycle studio, including a new sound system and LED lighting.
Managing director of the Reebok Sports Club John Penny said: “The design is fresh and contemporary and will further cement the reputation of the operation as one of the very best in the world”.
The refurbishment is expected to be completed by mid to late October 2014.
