Wembley to open for local residents
Wembley Stadium is to take its first tentative steps towards gaining its operational licence with a community day on 3 March for around 30,000 local residents.
The event is being conducted as part of the mandatory testing process and will see local people test the turnstiles and escalators, while joining together for a collective flush of the stadium’s loos.
Alex Horne, managing director of Wembley National Stadium Ltd (WNSL) said: “We have been working closely with our colleagues at Brent Council to ensure that local Brent residents are the first to see inside the new stadium.
"Local people will not only be getting a preview of the new world-class venue but will also play an important part in helping us to get the national stadium up and running for the rest of the nation to enjoy.”
A small football demonstration will take place on the pitch. Two further events from the FA, with a higher attendance will also be held, at dates to be confirmed.
