Work begins on Sudbury's new soft play facility
South Suffolk Leisure and Babergh District Council has announced that work has started on a new soft play centre.
Little Kingfishers, Soft Play Centre will become part of the Kingfisher Leisure Centre Site in Sudbury Suffolk.
The project will comprise a soft play frame suitable for under-eights incorporating twin wavy and spiral slides, log ramps, crawl tubes and a toddler pit for the youngest users.
The work will also include a new porch and draught lobby improving access to the existing facilities.
South Suffolk Leisure has set aside £500,000 for the works and Babergh is providing a further £100,000.
Tracey Copping, Chief Executive of South Suffolk Leisure - which manages the centre on behalf of Babergh - said: "Little Kingfishers will be a great place for our youngest users to have fun while offering mum and dad somewhere to relax and enjoy a coffee while watching their children play. We are already taking enquiries for birthday parties next year."
James Wilson, from building contractors R.G. Carter Ipswich, which will be constructing the facility, added: ""We are delighted to be involved with this important community project, which further strengthens our relationship with Babergh District Council."
