Wynne Construction has commenced work on a new £6.5m multi-purpose indoor centre at Parc Eirias in Colwyn Bay, North Wales.

The new facility will boast a gym and high performance sports analysis facilities, which are to provide a base for the Welsh Rugby Union's (WRU) North Wales Rugby Academy. Work will also see the stadium attain Category A status for athletics events, while providing classroom and conference areas for community, business and commerce use.

Funding worth £3.8m has been provided by the European Regional Development Fund and the Welsh Assembly Government, as well as Conwy Council and the WRU. Conwy Council has also revealed that a further tendering process is now underway in a bid to find a contractor to deliver improvements to Parc Eirias' playing surface.
