BAM to build new Trafford youth centre
BAM Construction has been appointed to build a £4m youth facility in Partington, Manchester, by the West Trafford Development Company (WTDC).
Trafford Youth Village - The Fuse Project is funded by the Big Lottery Fund through the government's myplace initiative and is scheduled to take around 44 weeks to complete. The two-storey building will house a multi-purpose auditorium, which will be used as a venue for theatre, dance and film and as a place for young people to meet. It will also be a base for outdoor pursuits.
Ellis Williams Architects; Doyle Partnership structural engineers; consultancy Steven A Hunt; and quantity surveyor AA Projects have already worked on the scheme. BAM Construction secured the contract from WTDC after holding off competition from rival contractors Wates; Rok; Millers; Bardsley; and Interserve.
