Active IQ has launched its Level 3 Award in Understanding the Development and Delivery of End-point Assessment to meet the increasing demands for skilled assessors in this emerging area.

The course content includes background information about the development of apprenticeship standards in England, the principles and requirements of End-point Assessment and a clear overview of the different methods that can be used.

Knowledge and skills covered in the syllabus include:

  • • Planning End-point Assessments
  • • The role of apprentices, employers and training providers in the process
  • • Making End-point Assessment decisions
  • • Ensuring End-point Assessments are quality assured
  • • Managing information relating to End-point Assessments
  • • The legal and good practice requirements in relation to End-point Assessment

“We’ve seen a significant rise in demand for skilled End-point Assessment assessors in line with the growth of apprenticeship standards that have moved from 330 to 739 since September 2019,” says Jenny Patrickson, Active IQ MD.

“Over the same period, the number of End Point Assessment Organisations (EPAOs) has grown from 165 to 311, driving an increasing demand for qualified End-point assessors.”

Suitable candidates for this qualification are likely to be those already qualified as vocational or work-based learning assessors who wish to widen their knowledge and skillset to include end-point assessment.

In addition, it will appeal to individuals who seek to understand the EPA process better – such as employers and those involved in on-programme delivery.

The qualification comprises 10 guided learning hours and 30 hours’ total qualification time.

Active IQ also offers eLearning resources and a manual to support the qualification, complemented by digital delivery through its Professional Career Development programme.

This makes the study options very flexible and ideal to fit around existing work commitments and accessible to those who may be learning from their home environment.
