Desso artificial pitch for FIFA U-17 World Cup semi-final
The semi final of the FIFA U-17 World Cup between Brazil and Uruguay on 7 July was played on a pitch developed and produced by European grass specialist Desso Sports Systems.
The match will take place at the state-of-the-art Estadio Omnilife, home of football club Chivas in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Since its inauguration, the stadium has been the centre for many sporting highlights, including the inauguration match between Chivas and Manchester United, the Copa Libertadores and currently the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
With artificial turf being an obvious choice - offering a pitch which remains in optimal condition whatever the weather - Desso's latest development in artificial grass, Desso iDNA, was installed during the construction of the stadium.
The surface - which enables Chivas to have both training and matches in the stadium - was selected for its natural playing characteristics, enabling technically perfect football, and its durability.
Desso is a FIFA Preferred Producer for artificial grass worldwide, a collaboration which seeks to create football fields which meet the optimal requirements of professional clubs and the sport in general.
The football turf pitch at the Omnilife stadium is FIFA 2 star Recommended.
