Fosse Contracts serve up seven new tennis courts
The reconstruction of courts 1, 2 and 3 by Fosse Contracts completes the current phase of facilities development at Henley-in-Arden Tennis Club, Warwickshire.
The company had already resurfaced courts 4, 5, 6 and 7 with associated works over a period from four to two years ago when they were asked to resurface courts 1, 2 and 3 and provide the associated fencing work earlier this year.
The surface selected, Placourt (porous macadam), is one several tennis surfaces available from the Fosse Contracts range. It's a very cost effective solution for tennis clubs wishing to benefit from a surface that is free draining, attractive to look at and provides consistent play with easy maintenance.
The work was overseen by consultants, Lee West Associates.
Previous work had been funded by grants from the local district council and the LTA but for this phase of the development, the £115,000 for the project was raised by a combination of club fundraising, an interest free loan from the LTA, a grant from the LTA and a significant contribution from the Parish Council.
The newly reconstructed courts were formally opened by Roger Draper on 3 June, along with dignitaries from the district and parish councils and representatives of the LTA that included Merthyn Stone, WLTA Chairman, Donna Bickley, LTA Midlands Facility Projects Manager and Jayne Ashton, WLTA Tennis Development Manager.
