case study: Third Space
Third Space, the Luxury London Health Club opened its Islington Club in early 2020 and chose Pulse Fitness to supply innovative and premium quality equipment.

Third Space Islington has a wide mixture of state-of-the-art training facilities including, for the first time, a dedicated space for families, Little Space. At the heart of the luxury health club is the 7,000sq ft arena of flexible training which includes a custom-built track, rig, performance cardio area and dedicated strength training area.

Offering a bespoke service

Taking its bespoke manufacturing capabilities to the next level, Pulse Fitness worked in partnership with the Third Space team to supply 15 stations from its superior H Range Strength Line. All equipment was created to a bespoke Sand Black and completed with Third Space branding to reflect the sleek aesthetic of the new club. The equipment was also fitted with 10-inch consoles, which allow users to easily track their reps and see their exertion levels.

“Third Space share our passion for quality and innovation and it has been a privilege to create and supply equipment from our strength line,” says Chris Johnson, Managing Director for Pulse Fitness. “We worked closely alongside the team to create and install strength equipment that would best suit the needs of their members. As a result of the great work delivered by Pulse Fitness in Third Space’s Islington club, Pulse was also chosen to supply premium fitness equipment for both its Tower Bridge and Mayfair clubs with a further install at Third Space Marylebone due to take place in 2022. ”

“We have been thoroughly impressed by Pulse Fitness throughout this process,” says Rob Beale, Fitness Director for Third Space. “Their strength equipment incorporates the very best in British design alongside some of the most innovative and advanced technology from around the world. The team have truly understood the expectations of our members and have supplied strength training solutions which enhance our luxury offering.”
Plans for the next 12 months
Following an uncertain and turbulent couple of years for the fitness industry, operators are now looking to elevate their offering to retain and re-engage their valued members. To respond to this, 2022 will see the launch of a new division of Pulse, Pulse Resale.

Pulse Resale will enable budget conscious customers to purchase high-quality, fully serviced, pre-owned fitness equipment directly, meaning they can expand their offering to members at a fraction of the cost of new equipment. The new initiative will also include products that will be available to purchase by at-home customers, giving everyone the opportunity to own or rent premium Pulse Fitness equipment.

Last year, saw the launch of TRAKK, the connected ecosystem from Pulse Fitness. The innovative app has proven hugely successful with both members and operators; allowing users to log their personal fitness journeys and keep connected to trainers. This year, Pulse Fitness is excited to expand the offering further with the introduction of new features such as HIIT workout timers, member counts and the ability to log in-class results.

Pulse Fitness is also looking forward to seeing more of its work come to life through a range of exciting installation projects, which will showcase the incredible work of both Pulse Design & Build and Pulse Fitness.

Pulse Fitness offers market-leading equipment at a fraction of the price with the launch of Pulse Resale
Fitness equipment market leader, Pulse Fitness, has launched a dedicated division called Pulse Resale to enable customers to rent or purchase high quality, pre-owned Pulse kit at a fraction of the original retail price.

Pulse Fitness has over 40 years’ experience designing and manufacturing commercial fitness equipment and as such are proud suppliers to a variety of customers from the RAF to Buckingham Palace. Now, the top of the range equipment supplier is offering its full customer base the opportunity to buy or rent its products.

Pulse Fitness’ full range is available through Pulse Resale including its Strength Lines. This brings popular kit such as the Shoulder Press, Abductor, Seated row Machines and Cardiovascular equipment all within easier reach of customers. In addition, a wide variety of Pulse Fitness Free Weight and Functional Accessories - such as Dumbbells, Kettlebells, Olympic Plates, Lifting Platforms and Power Racks - are available on Pulse Resale.

Pulse Resale customers can choose to rent, or purchase select pieces of kit for a timescale that suits their needs, making this an ideal arrangement for at-home use or start-up gyms. Alternatively, customers can select from a range of pre-determined kit bundles, perfect for supplying a new facility with all the essentials.

As part of the Pulse Resale service, customers can opt for a pre-purchase consultation to determine the best equipment for their facility and ensure the best equipment mix to maximise available space. Customers can be rest assured that they will receive the expected Pulse Fitness quality as each piece of Pulse Resale equipment undergoes an extensive service and testing process before heading to its new home. Once installed, the Pulse team remains on hand to fulfill support services; and further peace of mind comes with the option of a premium service contract.

Chris Johnson, Managing Director at Pulse Fitness said:“We are aware that there is no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to fitness facilities as we serve a wealth of different customers, with different needs and budgets. However, this shouldn’t mean compromising on the quality of their equipment. With the launch of Pulse Resale, we hope to connect our entire customer base, from home gym users to start-up owners, with high-quality, durable fitness equipment at a cost that suits them. “We have previously operated Pulse Resale within our corporate network and have seen great success giving our equipment a second life in spaces imperative to community life such as Swimming clubs, Rugby clubs and small leisure facilities. Now, the introduction of Pulse Resale to our entire customer base will enable us to maximise the life span of each piece of Pulse equipment, up to 40 years, while helping domestic users bring commercial quality into their home gym environment.”

Go! Active leisure facility gets a New Year Upgrade
In 2016, Bolsover District Council’s Go! Active leisure facility in Clowne, Derbyshire benefited from a multi-million pound development, which was delivered by the team at Pulse Fitness in order to provide the local community with a dedicated space for sports and leisure. Now, five years later, the centre has undergone a half a million pound renovation to bring the facilities up to date, ready for the New Year.

Following customer feedback, the end of year makeover has seen the centre receive updates to both the interiors and the leisure facilities. New and advanced gym equipment has been installed from Pulse Fitness’s top of the range Premium Cardio and Strength lines including: curve treadmills, stepmills, air bikes and much more. New flooring throughout with extension to the free weights area and functional training area.

The newly renovated centre, that offers a variety of over 100 group exercise classes each week, will now offer members new facilities including boxing bags and a Stairmaster machine, elevating the leisure facility’s offering for customers.

Within addition to the new and improved interiors and facilities, Go! Active customers will now benefit from the use of TRAKK, the fitness content platform and tracking app from Pulse. The introduction of TRAKK will allow members to create their own workout plans, tap into readymade training plans and allow PTs to digitally connect with members.
With TRAKK, Go Active’s trainers will be able to set personalised plans and programmes for their clients, as well as identify at-risk members and share automated messaged to the member base.

“Over the last five years, Go! Active has gone from strength to strength, continuously reaching financial targets and attracting 1,100 visits per day on average. We’re excited to accelerate success further with improvements and upgrades, ready for the New Year. We hope to reward loyal members with an additional offering in the form of TRAKK, helping them progress with their personal fitness journeys.” says Chris Johnson, Managing Director, Pulse Fitness.

Bolsover District Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure, Councillor David Downes said, “We want to make sure our gym meets the needs of its users and this new investment reflects our commitment to improving health for a wide range of age groups. We hope that the newly refurbished gym will encourage even more people to become active and by doing so improve both their physical and mental health.”

As part of the renewed new 5 year partnership agreement, Pulse will also be supplying a range of support solutions including full time sales support, front of house eXerp membership management software, Direct Debit collections and access control.

Pulse Fitness appointed as preferred fitness supplier to Telford & Wrekin Leisure
After winning a competitive tender process in 2019, Pulse Fitness was appointed by Telford & Wrekin Leisure as its preferred fitness supplier over the next five years.

As part of the partnership, Pulse Fitness will be upgrading the fitness facilities across its sites.

The investment into the new facilities has been made by Telford & Wrekin Council as a part of its commitment to ensure that all council-owned leisure facilities across the borough of Telford and Wrekin are exciting places to visit.

The team at Pulse Fitness has worked closely with the council to ensure the right mix of equipment is included in each of the developments.

Oakengates and Newport were upgraded in November 2019 and the next facility to benefit from the partnership is Horsehay Golf and Fitness Centre.

A connected solution

Pulse Fitness was awarded the contract due to its fully connected fitness offering.

The council was impressed to see that members will be able to log and track their activity in the gym as well as being able to use the internet, watch Netflix, stream online workouts and log into social media while exercising.

Horsehay Golf and Fitness Centre

This is the third site refurbished in partnership with Pulse Fitness.

The new gym is now home to 18 stations from across Pulse Fitness’ premium cardio line, complete with treadmills, elliptical cross trainers and stepmills.

There’s also equipment from Pulse Fitness' premium strength line including 14 fixed resistance machines and six free weight stations.

In line with the latest training trends, the team has also created a dedicated functional training zone which is complete with a ski-erg and the Pulse AirBike.

Andrea Oliver, national sales manager at Pulse Fitness says: “ This project has been a long time in the making, but it's a real testament to our market-leading services, equipment and previous innovative work.

"The opportunity to work on this proposal with the team at Telford & Wrekin has been a great pleasure and we're truly excited to see the outcome. We hope members enjoy using the new facilities for many years to come."
