Young girl dies after tragic incident at David Lloyd club in Luton
A young girl has died following an incident at the David Lloyd gym at Capability Green, Luton.
According to the BBC, police were called to the club last Thursday at around 8pm. They confirmed that a four-year-old girl was taken to hospital by emergency services and that she died not long after.
“It is with deep regret that we confirm a young child was injured in an incident outside the clubroom of our Luton club on Thursday and later died in hospital,” said a David Lloyd spokesperson, in a statement.
"Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family at this time. The club is closed, and we are working closely with the relevant authorities while they investigate."
A spokesman for Luton Council said: “We have no words to describe our sorrow at the tragic loss of such a young life, and our hearts go out to family and friends of the young girl who has so sadly died.”
“Our health and safety officers attended the scene and are continuing to support an investigation being undertaken in conjunction with Bedfordshire Police. As this is an ongoing investigation we are unable to comment further.”
