AECOM appoint Adriaan Vorster as director for architecture in Africa
Adriaan Vorster, formerly a partner at international design practice SSH, has been appointed as director for architecture, Africa at global architecture company AECOM.
A professional architect of 18 years, Vorster has 10 years’ experience at a strategic, managerial and business leadership level.
Beyond this, Vorster has spent 15 years in the delivery of healthcare campuses in the UK, North America, the Far East and the Middle East. His work in this sector includes advising on the new Children’s Hospital in Kuwait – the world’s largest paediatric medical facility – and the £1.1bn (US$1.5bn, €1.2bn) Royal London and Saint Bartholomew Hospital PFI project in London.
Based in AECOM’s office in Bellville, South Africa, Vorster will oversee the firm’s African projects, with a particular healthcare and wellness focus.
Other African projects outside of healthcare the company has ongoing include the Japoma Sports Complex in Cameroon, which is under construction for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations football tournament.
