Football centre plans to face judicial review?
Plans for the development of the Football Association's (FA) new multi-million pound National Football Centre near Burton-upon-Trent, could face a judicial review.
According to the BBC, former Burton Albion Football Club director Ian English revealed that a decision to award planning permission for the project could now face a legal challenge. East Staffordshire Borough Council (ESBC) approved the St George's Park plans in May, which covers a 330-acre (133.5-hectare) area and will include training pitches and a sports injury and research centre.
A coach education and training facility and a hotel are also among the FA's proposals for the project, which has been drawn up in partnership with kit supplier and sponsor Umbro. A spokesperson for the national governing body told the BBC: "We have valid planning permission. This action is a matter between, as we understand it, a local resident and the local authority."
