9m euro facility opens within Swiss resort
A CHF15m (US$14.45m, 9.26m euro, £7.28m) spa has opened at the Gstaad Palace resort in south-west Switzerland.
Covering 19,375sq ft (1,800sq m), the spa includes indoor and outdoor swimming pools, eight treatment rooms, a private spa suite, saunas, relaxation rooms with alpine views, steambaths and a pilates studio.
Offering a range of treatments using Cinq Mondes, Sisley and Clé de Peau Beauté products, the spa is intended to be “a wellness oasis with an elegant mountain ambience”.
A particular highlight is a seven-room hammam experience, covering an area of 1,399sq ft (130sq m). The experience incorporates seven sequential stages, beginning with a footbath and finishing with a hydrating oil massage.
A 196ft- (60m-) long granite wall has also been constructed within the spa to enhance its mountain feeling, using 50 tonnes of rock from the Blausee region in the north of the country.
Built in 1913, Gstadd Palace is situated on a hill overlooking the town of Gstaad and the Swiss Alps.
