Harbour Club gets £2m facelift
The gym at the Harbour Club, Chelsea, has undergone a refurbishment programme as part of a £2m investment by owner Next Generation.
The gym has been extended and a new layout implemented, including sectioned off ‘training pods’, containing a variety of functional training equipment such as cable column machines, stability balls, medicine balls and exercise mats. There are increased numbers of dumbbells available throughout the gym.
Cardiovascular and strength equipment was supplied by Life Fitness.
Elsewhere, it has been reported that Whitbread is leading a bidding war to acquire Next Generation, ahead of Esporta – whose first round bid of £180m was deemed too low – Clerkenwell Ventures and property entrepreneur Robert Tchenguiz.
Next Generation is due to open three new clubs in 2006 and 2007 in Leicester, Swindon and Blackpool.
