What we can do for you
Precor Incorporated, headquartered in Greater Seattle, WA, has been a pioneer in delivering fitness experiences for commercial customers for more than 40 years.

Precor serves more than 100 countries worldwide with offices in the Americas, EMEA, and APAC and operates two U.S.-based manufacturing locations. Precor segments include commercial clubs/facilities and the verticals of Hospitality, Residential, Corporate, and Education.

Precor is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Peloton. Peloton uses technology, content and best-in-class instructors to empower its community.

Key products and services
Precor products and services span all major categories, including cardio, strength, functional fitness, group training, and connected solutions.

Precor began by launching the first ergonomically-sound rowing machine and has developed products that move with the natural motion of the human body ever since. Every breakthrough product and service Precor has partnered with or brought to market has always put fitness first.

In 2020, Precor reached the milestone of recording one billion workouts in its Preva® fitness cloud. That number represents more than 140,000 connected units in over 13,000 facilities. On average, Precor exercisers record more than 20 million minutes of workouts each day as recorded by the Precor digital platform Preva®.

case study: Gym Works
GymWorks has been a loyal Precor customer since the first site opened its doors in 2013. Now both GymWorks sites – Euxton and Fulwood, which opened in 2017 – have a full complement of Precor cardio and Icarian strength kit, plus Spinning bikes and Queenax rigs.

Owner Peter Guy explains: “I can’t speak highly enough of the care and support we’ve received from Precor. Having a bumper service package means 100 per cent peace of mind for me. If anything goes down, which of course happens – all kit from every manufacturer breaks from time to time – I know it’ll be back up and running within 24 to 48 hours.”

The reputation of Precor kit for rarely breaking down was one of its big USPs for Peter. Euxton has more than 250 exercise stations, Fulwood more than 450 and Precor dominates throughout.

“One of great things about Precor kit is it’s incredible reputation for longevity,” says Peter. “In my opinion, and I’ve been in this industry for a, long time, Precor EFX is the best cross trainer on the market due to its patented cross ramp system. But what really makes it stand out is it just doesn’t break down. And the Icarian strength kit just goes on – in Euxton it’s seven years old and still looks like it was fitted yesterday.”

For inevitable wear and tear, Peter and Precor are talking about creating what he calls a ‘battle pack’. “Some upholstery just wears more quickly than other parts so we’ve talked about having certain bits of kit stored on site, upholstery and cables for example, to allow engineers to do a really fast turnaround when there’s an issue. This sort of going above and beyond is what I have come to expect from Precor.

“In the rare times when something does break, all I have do is pick up phone and our engineer, Steve Bennison, has fixed it within two days. I can’t recommend him enough. He’s never stumped by anything,” says Peter.

For a club operator, Peter believes the most crucial thing for a service provider to get right is speed of turnaround. “Without a doubt – it has a direct impact on my members,” he says. “Service is critical, the last thing members want to see is kit out of action.

“The biggest complaint we get is when a piece of kit is out of order. By buying Precor kit and using their support package I’ve almost completely eradicated that particular complaint. I can only recommend Precor; they’ve been an integral part of the huge success of GymWorks.”
case study: Aberdeen Sports Village
The newly refurbished Aberdeen Sports Village (ASV) has recently undergone a £500,000 overhaul to enable it to offer a stronger user experience, with digital connectivity at its core.

The site, which reopened at the end of August 2019, has capacity for approximately 9,500 members. Since re-opening, membership has already increased by 17%.

Kris McIntosh, Health & Fitness Development Manager at ASV, says: “We’d come to the end of the lease agreement with our previous partner and knew we needed to update to enhance the atmosphere, modernise kit and, critically, move with industry trends in terms of tracking and usage. We’d seen a number of users considering moving to competitors who’d undergone refurbishments. It was time to up our game in order to compete.”

The key priority was to transform the gym into a modern, connected workout area with everything digitally linked. “Previously, we had limited access to equipment usage information but we didn’t know what kit was being utilised, when or how often. Footfall through the door was where our information stopped,” says Kris.

It’s for this reason that ASV selected Precor’s Preva – which captures workout data from CV machines and enables members to set and track goals, as well as earn virtual motivational badges. “From an operational standpoint, Preva gives us the ability to gather data like never before. We use it to check equipment status daily as well as for weekly and monthly usage reports,” says Kris. “We’ve used Preva to monitor footfall at peak times throughout the day, then scheduled our functional sessions around those peak time to utilise our offering more efficiently. From a maintenance perspective we have access to every piece of kit’s status. This allows us to highlight specific trends and instantly report faults or issues, which decreases downtime dramatically.”

Preva reports for October 2019 showed that ASV members completed 19,682 workouts in 5,550 hours – up 446 hours on the previous month.

Entirely connected
In March 2019, Precor partnered with global technology giant, Sony, to enable the delivery of digital exercise tracking on its strength kit, too. Sony’s Advagym means operators also using Preva can now offer a complete workout tracking journey – Preva stats are automatically downloaded to the Advagym app, giving users an entirely connected gym experience.

Kris says: “Sony Advagym sensors on our strength machines record reps and sets. Members touch their phone to the sensor ‘puck’ to start tracking their workout in real-time, with stats automatically uploaded to the app. I’ve been incredibly impressed. Our PTs and gym staff use the app to increase interaction with members and create bespoke training programmes so customers achieve their goals faster.

“I use the system to monitor utilisation so I know what kit’s being used, how often and when. The insights into user preferences are unreal. I can run reports on every single bit of kit. We had over 1.8 million repetitions across the fixed weight machines throughout September and the highest number of reps was on the cable machine, which clocked a total of 147,366 reps in the first month after opening. These are astonishing statistics.”

Mixing and matching
Based on customer feedback, ASV opted for Precor’s unique mix ‘n’ match on CV offering. “Because we have incredibly high footfall we went for 700-line treadmills for durability and functionally, with the higher grade P82 consoles,” says Kris. “The mix ‘n’ match option was a big part of our decision to work with Precor – it allowed us to adapt to exactly what our customers need but maintain that premium feel.”

Existing members also requested a better functional training area and high intensity equipment, so ASV installed the Assault Range and an Open Format Queenax Training Rig. The member demographic “is anyone and everyone, from students and over 60s to corporate, junior and family memberships,” says Kris.

For this reason running functional Queenax classes on the gym floor is vital for customer engagement. “We run Queenax HIIT, Stretch and Queenax Core. They meet the needs of every member, whatever their starting point – new members are coming in just for these classes. Since October, we’ve seen 54% occupancy and delivered Queenax to hundreds of customers.”

The centres NPS rating – the percentage of people who would recommend ASV to a friend or colleague – has leapt up to 49%, which is considered ‘great’ (0-30 = good, 30-70 = great).

For Kris and his team, the added value of working alongside Precor was their ability to help pull numerous suppliers together.

“Our sales rep Colin has been there right from the start. Always approachable, always helping to liaise with suppliers – from Netpulse and Hutchinson Tech to Marina Training Solutions. He was crucial in getting Advagym up and running,” says Kris. “He was the middle-man that helped hold the whole thing together and his problem-solving abilities were crucial for successful execution.”

Introducing the next generation of Precor cardio consoles: a perfect blend of performance, fitness and entertainment
Precor made history in 2011 with the launch of the first connected fitness console. Since then, exercisers from over 340,000 facilities across 100 countries have completed an astonishing 1.2 billion workouts and counting on Precor-connected fitness cardio products.

The third generation of Precor cardio consoles introduces lightning-fast technology, an innovative modular design, a best-in-class media experience, and a wide range of workouts to keep exercisers motivated and engaged.

Creating a truly personal experience
During extensive research, Precor found that exercisers' relationship with digital content has shifted significantly in recent years, with most now preferring to stream their content from their phone. And it’s not just entertainment content that is being streamed.

Exercisers have diversified the number of health and wellness apps they access as well as relying on free online fitness content. They bring in their own content and place their phones on the console in gyms. When this occurs, exercisers are checking out of the fitness equipment experience and into their personal device.

In response to this growing demand for personal experiences, Precor is introducing PrecorCast™, its proprietary casting feature that is optimised for commercial fitness environments.

PrecorCast seamlessly and securely enables exercisers to cast content from their mobile phone on the big screen, while ensuring the privacy of texts, emails, and other applications.

Adam Hubbard, director of product and marketing at Precor, said: “PrecorCast removes the need for embedded console apps or logins. Wireless casting elevates the content on an exercisers’ phone, so they can keep their eyes on the big screen, where operators can make the biggest impact.”

“A Resolute Multi-Stations configurator tool allows facilities to create a modular structure that meets their unique requirements, while it’s possible to modify the design and add or relocate stations. Components are designed for longevity and easy replacement.

User experience reimagined

Precor’s next generation consoles feature a newly designed user interface, a simple yet intuitive experience that makes it easier and faster for exercisers to find a workout they want and connect to their personal media. The experience starts on the home screen, where all workout and media options are organised. The layout encourages exploration yet maintains incredible simplicity. Featured workouts are displayed at the top, and can also be searched and filtered, so exercisers easily find a workout that matches their interests. Additionally, exercisers can quickly shift to the media tab to set-up their casting experience before the workout even starts.

Precor conducted extensive research and evaluation before selecting screen sizes and viewing angles for their new high-definition consoles. The 16” and 22” screens perfectly complement the exerciser in motion’s proximity to the console, biomechanics, and sightlines.

Engaging features

As well as PrecorCast, the cardio consoles include several performance and entertainment features meeting the needs of exercisers and operators. These include:

Modular Design – The console’s display and cradle are two separate parts, making it easier to swap out components if needed, reducing downtime and operator costs.

Wireless Charging – Compatible with both Apple and Android devices and works with phones and Bluetooth headphones. Exercisers can enjoy casting content from their phones during their workout and not sweat the worry of draining their batteries.

Screensaver Reel – Operators have the option to display up to seven rotating slides (including QR codes). Premium real estate for promoting classes, paid offerings, events, and facility updates.

New and Configurable Workouts – Including HIIT, Virtual Outdoor, Heart Rate and StairClimber Milestones. With more being added.

Picture and Workout in Picture – Allowing exercisers to intuitively toggle between TV and workout views, increasing discoverability of media options during workouts.

Enhanced data for better results

Precor consoles are all are managed centrally within the Precor Business Suite (PBS). This provides immediate access to equipment monitoring, remote software updates, and insights into exerciser usage behaviours on your equipment.

The next generation of cardio consoles have the reliability and durability you expect from Precor, while introducing revolutionary features that delight and engage exercisers, and innovations that reduce downtime and simplify ownership.

Introducing the Precor Resolute™ Multi-Stations: Modern Design, Built for All Lifters
Strength training continues to accelerate as a dominant industry trend. By every measure, fitness facilities are making more space for strength and functional training equipment, and cable-based multi-stations sit at the crossroads of selectorised strength, free weights, and functional training. Resolute Multi-Stations bring forward the latest and greatest innovations in this category – truly flexible design, a striking appearance, and an uncompromising experience for lifters.

With a sleek, contemporary design that commands attention, the new Precor Multi-Stations create a focal point for any strength training area. Notably, these stations balance premium aesthetics with space-saving design that better fits into increasingly crowded strength spaces. Beyond their visual appeal, these stations promise minimal maintenance and the proven durability of other Precor Resolute line products.

Built for the Best
In conceptualising their new Multi-Stations, Precor undertook a comprehensive dialogue with operators and exercisers to understand the performance expectations of both groups. This audience of leading operators and seasoned lifters inspired the innovation present in all of these stations.

For operators, the robust components are designed for longevity and effortless replacement so that each station maintains its pristine appearance and exceptional performance for years to come. Each station underwent extensive testing, including five months of non-stop heavy lifting by our quality test robots, and are tested to six times the full weight stack load. They leverage shared parts with other Precor Resolute Selectorised Line components to simplify maintenance, and that focuses on minimal adjustments to increase reliability.

For exercisers, the stations cater to both seasoned weightlifters and newcomers. Resolute Multi-Stations incorporate five cable-based exercise stations, two (2) storage stations, and a blank shroud option (ideal if a station will be up against a wall and one side of it will not be usable). Ingenious features such as integrated add-on weights and functional accessory storage bay options give exercisers a complete suite of tools. A dedicated digital device storage shelf allows exercisers to place their phone in a premium location so they can actively engage with their content while they train.

Modular Design That Fits Your Business
As operators expand their strength floors and attract a more diverse group of strength training members, investing in equipment that fits their exercisers now and in the future is paramount. The new Resolute Multi-Stations configurator tool allows facilities to create a modular structure that meets their unique space, design, and training requirements. Operators can choose their frame and upholstery colours, and then select the type, number, and location of each multi-station tower. Even better, they can choose the location of each exercise or storage station around each tower.

Once a design is set, operators can rest easy knowing that Resolute Multi-Stations will remain flexible far into the future. As facilities floor plans evolve, it’s always possible to modify the design and add or relocate exercise stations.

Uncompromising Strength
The Precor Multi-Stations epitomize a fusion of aesthetics and performance, presenting an exquisite visual appeal while delivering unwavering functionality. Each station is a testament to meticulous design and development, aligning with the expectations of lifters, fitness, and operations staff. The stations, characterised by reliability, user-friendliness, and robustness, are engineered to withstand the rigours of intense workouts.

Witness firsthand how Precor Resolute Multi-Stations elevate your strength training offerings, seamlessly anchoring your fitness space with their contemporary allure and future-proof versatility.
