Angry Birds World opens in Qatar's capital
Trimoo's Angry Birds World theme park has opened at Doha Festival City mall in the Qatari capital.
Funded by Talal bin Mohamed Trading, the 17,000sq m (183,000sq ft) entertainment park features a number of different attractions inspired by the bird-catapulting Rovio game, which became a global phenomenon. These include the Blast Bomb drop tower, Pirate Coast boat-themed bumper cars, Angry Birds Go! go-karting, Epic Battle laser tag, and a Bouncing Blues gliding jet ride.
There is also a variety of dining outlets and shops, as well as trampoline, a zip line, ropes course and soft play areas.
Simo Hamalainen, senior vice president of brand licensing at Rovio, said: “Our new world-class attraction based in Qatar is another clear demonstration of the global appeal of the Angry Birds brand. Rovio’s current licensing roadmap is strongest to date, bringing great new ways for our fans to enjoy Angry Birds. The brand’s future looks bright and is being spearheaded with the theatrical release of The Angry Birds Movie 2 in September 2019.”
Location-based entertainment company Trimoo is also opening an indoor snow park, digital gaming centre and an FEC at the mall.
