Banyan Tree’s Angsana brand to manage boutique hotels
Angsana Resorts & Spa, whose parent company is Banyan Tree Holdings, is to launch a collection of small boutique hotels in exotic locations under the banner of ‘Colours of Angsana.’
The hotels will share the same philosophy: to provide travellers with a vivid experience in adventure and cultural tourism.
Three hotels are scheduled to open in the next 12 months. The Deer Park in Sri Lanka and the Maison Souvannaphoum in Laos will both be situated in UNESCO World Heritage Sites, while the Gyalthang Dzong Hotel in China will be located within the designated World Heritage Great Rivers National Park.
The three hotels have been acquired under management or revenue sharing arrangements and are part of a larger strategy to position the group in the soft adventure market.
Angsana Resorts & Spa was set up by Banyan Tree Holdings to enable it to diversify its business operations to other areas of hospitality and spa management. It has been embarking on a rapid expansion plan in the Asia Pacific region, and now has resort spas in Indonesia, Australia, India and the Maldives. This year, the group launched its first day spa operation, in Sydney, Australia and its first city club in Taiwan.
Mr Ho Kwon Ping, Chairman of Banyan Tree Holdings says “We are mindful of over-stretching or diluting the scope of our individual brands, hence the development of a collection under the banner of Angsana Resorts & Spa to allow for diversification and growth within the group’s central strategy.”
