Brent launches vision for future of Wembley
Leisure is at the heart of Brent Council's recently unveiled vision for the future of Wembley.
The council plans to use the rebuilding of the Wembley national stadium as a catalyst for the regeneration of the area. As well as the 90,000-seat stadium, other key components of the council's vision for 21st Century Wembley includes a convention centre with a capacity for up to 5,000, an arts centre and performance space to rival the Pompidou Centre and a 12,000 capacity venue to hold concerts and other events all year round. There will also be hotels, restaurants and other leisure facilities.
The council is inviting developers to come forward with plans. 'Or vision is to make Wembley 'a world class visitor destination that Londoners are proud of,' said leader of Brent Council, Ann John.
