More than 350 young sportspeople, parents, coaches and volunteers attended a event organised by Bromley Mytime to celebrate the trust’s victory at the London Youth Games.

Each year 25,000 young people from the 33 London Boroughs compete in the London Youth Games in 35 different sporting competitions. The results are added together to find London’s Best Sporting Borough.

Leader of Bromley Council, Councillor Stephen Carr, said: “This tremendous win for the borough sends out a very welcome message that Bromley’s young people are progressing well and achieving great results through sport.”

“This result is a triumph for all the partnership work we do with schools and clubs, it shows the strength in depth we have across so many sports and what can be achieved when we all work so well together,” added Dennis Barkway CBE, chairman of Bromley Mytime

At the celebration evening – which included a speech by British rower, Alison Mowbray Olympic silver medalist in Athens 2004 – Bromley Mytime awarded Blackheath and Bromley Harriers Athletics Club £1,000 in support of young athletes representing Great Britain at this years European Junior Club Championships.
