Burton Hotel in Kington, Herefordshire, opened a £1m health and fitness club called Cloud Nine this month under the management of Fitness Express.

New facilities will include a 1,000sq m (10,700sq ft) fitness studio featuring Precor equipment and Cardio Theatre TV screens, a steamroom, a spa bath, a 12m indoor pool and two beauty therapy rooms.

Cloud Nine has a membership capacity of up to 600 people and the club has registered 200 members since opening. Membership is available to both hotel guests and the local community.

Jane Lewis of Destination Herefordshire – the county’s tourism body – said: “The county has lacked quality facilities for years and we are sure that this new club will significantly raise the visitor profile of both the town and Herefordshire.
