Cardiff leisure centre plans to be reviewed
Plans to revamp Cardiff's Eastern Leisure Centre are to be reviewed after the local authority confirmed it was seeking an "alternative option" for its schools reorganisation programme.
Cardiff Council had proposed the refurbishment as part of plans to develop a new secondary school on the Eastern Leisure Centre site in Llanrumney to the east of the Welsh capital.
However, the council said reduced funding from the Welsh Assembly Government has forced the rethink, with revised plans for the leisure centre revamp now to be drawn up.
A Cardiff Council spokesperson said: "The council's Leisure and Play department of Community Facilities has been asked to review the proposed Eastern Leisure Centre redevelopment plans in the light of the changed circumstances.
"We are still committed to providing residents in the East of the city with an excellent venue which will boast first-class leisure and sports facilities for the use of the whole community."
