Carlisle United to display study findings
Carlisle United Football Club (CUFC) is to display the findings of a feasibility study into the potential redevelopment of its Brunton Park stadium or relocation to a new venue.
The results of the report carried out by The Frank Whittle Partnership (FWP) are to go on show at a public exhibition later this week (24 November) at the npower League One club's Sunset Suite.
FWP was tasked with reviewing the redevelopment of the existing venue over a number of phases, which would enable it to comply with all aspects of the Taylor Report.
However, it is estimated the cost of transforming Brunton Park would cost more than £18m and the report also identified potential sites across Carlisle for a new venue.
The study called for discussions to continue with Kingmoor Park, which is earmarked to be the "best opportunity for an 'enabling' development" towards a 12,000-seat stadium.
CUFC managing director John Nixon said: "The board would be doing a disservice to the fans if we didn't look into the future options for the club and report back to them for their input."
