Chester City handed league suspension
Chester City Football Club (CCFC) has been suspended from competing in the Blue Square Premier after being handed seven days to respond to charges for breaching five competition rules.
The charges served by Football Conference officials include the failure to fulfil fixtures scheduled against Forest Green Rovers Football Club (FGRFC) on 9 February and Wrexham Football Club (WFC) on 14 February respectively. CCFC's match with FGRFC was postponed at short notice after failing to raise a team, while the match against WFC was called off after the local police force refused to provide cover over unpaid costs owed by the Cheshire club.
A Football Conference spokesperson said: "Pursuant to other matters currently existing at the Club, the Football Conference has served charges for breaches of five separate Competition rules upon the Club which include the failure to fulfil the two fixtures. "As these matters are now subjudice, no further statement will be issued until after the meeting of 18 February."
CCFC's fixture with Kidderminster Harriers Football Club, scheduled for 17 February, has now been put on hold in order to allow the club to respond to the charges.
