Coaches honoured at sports coach UK awards

The contribution of coaches from across the sporting spectrum has been recognised at sports coach UK’s annual awards ceremony.
Sir Bobby Robson was given the sports coach UK Lifetime Achievement award for his work in football. The ex-England manager said: “The art of a good coach is to make a good player a great player, while maintaining a team ethic.”
Other winners included; Duncan Fletcher, coach of the England cricket team, who was male coach of the year; Colette Thompson, of the U21 netball squad who was female coach of the year; Humphrey Long was named community sports coach of the year for his work in basketball. Young coach of the year was Rachael Wooldridge – a full time community sports coach.
