Everyone Active scoops Woking contract

By Kath Hudson    25 Sep 2025
Everyone Active is taking over the contract for Woking's sports and fitness facilities / Everyone Active
Everyone Active has won the operating contract for Woking
It will take over management of four sites in December
An estimated £1.1 million in cost savings are anticipated
Improvements will include the addition of a reformer Pilaters studio

Everyone Active will be taking over the contract to run Woking Borough Council’s four leisure facilities on 1 December.

Subject to contract, the appointment covers Woking Leisure Centre, Pool in the Park, Woking Sportsbox and Eastwood Leisure Centre and will run for an initial period of 10 years, with an option to extend for a further five years.

Everyone Active is expected to deliver an estimated £1.1 million in cost savings, through a combination of increased income, reduced operational costs and efficiencies in service delivery.

A wide-ranging programme of physical activity and wellbeing services will be introduced, with a strong focus on community engagement and innovation, making sure the service is inclusive.

An investment programme will also get underway which will include refurbishment of the fitness suite at Woking Leisure Centre, as well as improving the studios and changing areas and creating a dedicated reformer Pilates studio.

Advanced safety technology and visual enhancements will be introduced at Pool in the Park. Sensory lighting will be installed at Eastwood Leisure Centre to support more inclusive programming and there will be equipment upgrades at Woking Sportsbox.

Ian Cook, Everyone Active’s regional contract manager, says: “We want to make physical activity accessible, inclusive and engaging for everyone and are proud to bring innovative programming, new technology and a strong social value commitment to this partnership.”

Cllr Ellen Nicholson, Woking Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: “Everyone Active’s community-focused approach and commitment to innovation made them the ideal partner for this next chapter in our leisure provision.

“Our new partnership will help residents live healthier, more active lives, whilst optimising our leisure assets through improved facilities, employment opportunities and wider social impact."

Everyone Active is increasingly looking to broaden its offering and deliver more holistic concepts. Last year it launched its own in-house reformer Pilates concept, as well as the You+ wellness membership, created in conjunction with physiologist Oliver Patrick. This summer it announced it would be expanding its wellness offering with more breathwork sessions, sound baths and restorative yoga, as a result of customer feedback.

More recently Everyone Active has started the pilot of its Move More membership at six sites. The aim is to engage inactive populations through inclusive and accessible sport, swim and social activities.

Costing between £9.90 and £15 a month, the three-month, means-tested membership makes activity more inclusive to individuals on Universal Credit or Pension Credit. Members gain access to specialised activities such as quiet swims, walking sports, Good Boost sessions and community programmes, with the aim to reduce social isolation and promote wellbeing. Members don't get access to gyms but can use the digital platform, Everyone on Demand.

One of the pilot sites is Everyone Active’s London Aquatics Centre. Regional contract manager, Mark Basker, said: “We want to provide an inclusive space for everyone within the local community to come and use the iconic London Aquatics Centre swimming pool. The Move More membership opens the door for individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds to come and use this facility in an affordable way.”
