Conrad Jupiters set to open revamped casino
Conrad Jupiters hotel on Australia’s Gold Coast is set to officially unveil the AUS$53.5m (£21.7m, US$41m, 32m euro) refurbishment of its casino on 23 November.
The revamp, which began in August 2005, has added an extra 3,500sq m (37,700sq ft) of space and consolidated all casino and gaming operations onto one floor.
A cocktail bar called the Quid Bar, a casual dining restaurant called Bite and a further bar called J Bar have all been introduced as well as new lounge areas.
The scheme will also see daylight enter the gaming arena for the first time, with balconies running the length of the casino offering outside dining.
“Previously casinos could not have windows,” said the hotel’s gaming operations general manager, Robbie Vale, “but now regulations have changed and we can take advantage of the beautiful views and climate that the Gold Coast has to offer.”
Xavier Walsh, managing director of Jupiters, added: “The completion of the refurbishment is a very exciting stage for Conrad Jupiters. We can now provide what our customers have been asking for – and that is a rejuvenated gaming floor, greater food options, lounge areas, balconies and live entertainment.
“We also believe the upgrade has put the property in a better position for the future and provides greater flexibility for us to cater for our customers ever changing needs.”
The refurbishment was funded by Tabcorp, which not only owns the Conrad Jupiters and adjacent convention centre, but also Sydney’s Star City Hotel and Casino, Conrad Treasury in Brisbane and Jupiters Townsville, the TAB in Victoria and New South Wales and media assets including Sky Channel and 2KY.
