Disney reveals scale model of new Star Wars lands at D23
Disney has offered its most in-depth look at its upcoming Star Wars Land yet, unveiling a scale model of the attraction ahead of the D23 fan expo taking place this weekend in Anaheim, California.
Two years on from the last D23, when Bob Iger first revealed plans for two Star Wars attractions at Disney’s Florida and California theme parks, the operator unveiled the model, which has been made available for attendees to get a first look at the hotly-anticipated attraction.
According to Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Walt Disney World’s editorial content manager, both Star Wars-inspired lands will “transport guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before Wild Space, where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life.”
The lands will have two signature attractions: one allowing guests to take control of the Millennium Falcon, and another that puts guests in the middle of a giant battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
The two 14 acre Star Wars attractions are set to launch in 2019. Attendees will be able to see the model inside the “A Galaxy of Stories” pavilion at the centre of the expo. More information about the two lands are expected to be released over the weekend, likely during a theme park development panel taking place on Saturday afternoon (14 July) at D23.
