DLR extension connects Olympic venues
Transport for London (TfL) has launched a new £211m extension of London's Docklands Light Railways (DLR) network, which connects five 2012 Olympic and Paralympic venues.
The route between Stratford International and Canning Town features four new stations and forms part of wider upgrades and improvements to infrastructure serving the Olympic Park. Venues connected with the help of the new DLR extension include the Olympic Park; Royal Artillery Barracks; Greenwich Park; ExCeL; and the O2 Arena.
London mayor Boris Johnson said: "This expansion of the DLR is a further demonstration of the improvements that the London 2012 Games are making to our city." Olympic Delivery Authority director of transport Hugh Sumner, added: 'The opening of the new DLR extension is the last piece in the jigsaw for major upgrades and improvements to networks serving the Olympic Park."
