The £10.3m redevelopment of Northern Ireland's Brandywell Stadium has moved forward after Derry City Council (DCC) agreed to progress to the next stage of the process.
Members of the development committee backed the project at a special meeting, which now enables a full business case to be submitted to the Northern Ireland Executive.
A new-look 5,100-seat Brandywell Stadium complying with UEFA Category II regulations is at the centre of the proposals. The ground is currently home to Derry City Football Club.
The project also involves restored grass playing pitches and training facilities at Daiseyfield and the Brandywell showgrounds. Completion is scheduled for late 2014.
DCC's Martin Reilly said: "The next step for this catalyst project is to submit a full and formal business case to the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure to secure a contribution towards the capital costs of the project."
