Lighting up time at Glastonbury Tor
St Michael's Tower, perched on the top of the iconic Glastonbury Tor in Somerset, is going to be illuminated for the first time.
Owned by the National Trust (NT), the tower will be lit up every night between sunset - 21.31 BST - and sunrise during the five days of the Glastonbury music festival which is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2010. Andy Mayled, NT general manager for the Somerset countryside, said: "It's the first time that the Trust will be at Glastonbury Festival and we wanted to do something special to mark the important role that the festival plays in Somerset life and to celebrate its 40th birthday."
The Tor is five miles from Worthy Farm, where the festival is held, and it will be visible during the lighting up time from the elevated areas of the site.
