Clydebank set for new leisure centre
Plans for the development of a new leisure complex in Clydebank as part of wider efforts to regenerate the Scottish town have taken a step forward.
West Dumbartonshire Council (WDC), Tesco and regeneration group Clydebank Group have agreed to progress the sale of the Play Drome site to the supermarket, which aims to build a new superstore. The transaction would help fund the construction of the leisure facility on a waterfront site at Queens Quay, which has been identified as the preferred option for future leisure provision in Clydebank.
WDC chief executive David McMillan said: "Although talks are at an early stage, West Dunbartonshire Council, Tesco and Clydebank Rebuilt are keen to work together on these exciting developments for the residents of Clydebank. "The future of the new leisure facility is solely dependent on the sale of the existing site and I am confident all parties will work together to see this new venture develop."
