FIA to unveil new code of practice
The Fitness Industry Association (FIA) will reveal its redefined Code of Practice to delegates at its Government Summit on 9 November 2005.
This Code of Practice has long been the industry standard, but is set to take on greater significance when it becomes independently audited from January 2006.
The updated version now features stringent assessment criteria, which operators must commit to in order to be deemed Code of Practice compliant.
Sport England chair Lord Carter, Public Health Minister, Caroline Flint MP and Sports Minister, the Rt Hon Richard Caborn are some of the speakers who will attend the summit to pledge their support for the FIA in its drive towards raising professional standards and increasing respect for the industry.
Andrée Deane, director of communications at the FIA says: “A regulated Code of Practice is a crucial step in the FIA’s journey towards uniting the industry and developing a professional reputation for the fitness sector. It will not only increase trust in the industry, but will also help facilitate future partnerships and funding opportunities with government.”
The Summit will take place in Jolly St Ermins Hotel, London. Tickets cost £99.
