Football Conference nets £6m funding support
A new club development fund is set to be launched by the Football Conference after the Premier League announced a £6m "solidarity package" for the competition.
The funding will be split into general payments, with £1.2m shared among the 68 competing clubs each year, and £800,000 a season for the club development fund. It follows an initial £1m contribution from the Premier League during the 2009-10 season, with the latest funding package to be spread over a three-year period.
Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said: "The Premier League and our member clubs recognise the importance of the continued health of football outside the Football League and it is with this in mind that we have made this commitment to the Football Conference."
