Football Foundation funds pitch in Hemyock
The Football Foundation – the UK’s largest sports charity – has awarded £162,700 to Hemyock Parish Council in Devon.
The council proposes to construct a pavilion with two changing rooms, a multi-use games area and car parking facilities on its Longmead field, which is currently out of use.
Football Foundation CEO Paul Thorogood said: “I am delighted that the Football Foundation has awarded another £162,700 to boost sports provision in the south west. We have so far funded 72 grass roots sports projects worth more than £5.8m across Devon and would welcome even more applications.
“Sport plays a central role in helping people to stay fit, strengthen communities and promote responsibility among young people. I am delighted that this investment is opening up access to sport in Hemyock.”
Parish council chair Heather Stallard added: “Here in Hemyock we are all very excited about this Football Foundation award. It means that at long last we can move forward with the provision of the vital facilities to enable our young people to enjoy their football and achieve their footballing aspirations.
“It gives great encouragement to the many volunteer parents and dedicated helpers who give so much time and commitment at the grass-roots level – the essential foundation for the great British game.” Details: www.footballfoundation.org.uk
