Fulham losses widen despite 'record' income

By Pete Hayman    22 Mar 2011

Fulham Football Club (FFC) has reported a £16.9m loss for the financial year ending June 2010, despite a 21 per cent increase in income compared with the previous year.

According to the Premier League club, its 'record' income for the 12-month period was the 30th highest in European football as per a recent Deloitte report. However, bonuses paid to players as a result of on-field success in both the FA Cup and the Europa League competitions pushed staff costs up 6.7 per cent.

A FFC spokesperson said: "The chair, Mohamed Al Fayed, stated he was very pleased with the performance of the business and again expressed the importance of the long-term goal of self-sustainability."
