Funding boost for Cardigan Castle scheme
Cadwgan Building Preservation Trust (CBPT) has secured £250,000 for the restoration of three listed buildings that form part of the landscape of Cardigan Castle, Wales.
Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones announced that the Cadw Historic Buildings support is to be spread over three years and will help bring the properties back into public use. The Welsh Assembly Government funding is to be directed towards Castle Green House; Gardener's Cottage; and 43 St Mary Street.
CBPT has already secured initial support worth £295,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund, with a decision over a £4.5m bid expected in March. Meanwhile, 12 other important historic buildings across Wales have been awarded a share of nearly £600,000 by the Assembly Government through heritage agency Cadw.
