GLL to manage new Hammersmith swimming facility
Sports trust Greenwich Leisure (GLL) has been appointed to manage a new swimming pool in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.
The £4m Janet Adegoke Swimming Pool has been built next to the existing Phoenix Fitness Centre and the two facilities will share a main entrance and both be run by GLL.
The new swimming pool, which replaces the old Janet Adegoke Centre in White City, will open to the public in January and include a 25m lane pool, a children’s pool, a sauna, lounge and viewing area. It will be fully accessible for disabled users.
Both the pool and Phoenix Fitness Centre were built through a partnership between the council and Phoenix High School.
Leader of the council, Stephen Burke, said: “GLL is totally committed to health improvement and providing the best facilities for local people.
“It has recently completed a £1m revamp of the Hammersmith Fitness & Squash Centre and is planning extensive improvements to the Lillie Road Fitness Centre. The council will set prices for the facilities, with a guarantee that affordable prices for the public will be retained." Details: www.lbhf.gov.uk or www.gll.org
