Gambado opens third children’s adventure site and plans rollout
Children’s indoor adventure play centre operator Gambado has opened its third site, at Imperial Wharf in Chelsea, London.
The £1.74m, 16,000sq ft (1,500sq m) site, designed for 0- to 10-year-olds, features dodgems, trampolines, age-zoned adventure play areas, activity walls and party zones. It was designed by architects, Tripe and Wakeham Partnership.
The company already operates similar facilities in Beckenham and Milton Keynes and has recently acquired an 8,000sq ft (750sq m) existing business called Playtopia in Basildon, which will be rebranded as Gambado in time for the October 2006 half term holiday.
Rick Wates, sales and marketing director for Gambado, said the company aims to fund and develop four sites per year to reach a total of 20 by 2010 and to introduce national curriculum-compliant activities at each facility.
The Chelsea site was officially opened by Everest mountaineer Bear Grylls, who said: “Gambado is the sort of place that will spark dreams in kids, a place that kids can be themselves, to let go and explore. This is exactly what kids should be doing.” Details: www.gambado.com
