Gisborough Hall reveals plans to create a woodland wellness retreat called Sakura Spa
Gisborough Hall, a four-star country house hotel in North Yorkshire, UK, has been granted permission to build a new destination wellness retreat called Sakura Spa.
The Hall has been privately owned and run by the Chaloner family since it was bought from the royal estate in 1570 – after the dissolution of the monasteries by King Henry VIII.
The addition of a spa marks a new chapter in the history of the hotel, which has 59 rooms and three luxury shepherd huts.
Sakura Spa
The spa, which is set to open at the start of Q2 next year, is being developed by international interior designer Nic Tamlin, spa consultant Nicki Kurran and project management firm Glen Bland Chartered Surveyors.
Sakura Spa’s concept will celebrate simplicity and harmony with nature and has been designed as a place of quiet transformation.
The spa will be in a private woodland garden and it will have six treatment rooms and relaxation lounges.
There will also be an extensive thermal garden, including a vitality pool, saunas, a steamroom as well as secluded outdoor relaxation spaces.
Spa guests will have access to an exclusive dining area, where nourishing meals will be served to complement the restorative and balancing therapies on offer.
Lord Gisborough, the owner and Chaloner family descendant, said: “As a family, we remain deeply committed to the long-term future of Gisborough Hall. The creation of Sakura Spa is a significant investment that reflects our belief in the potential of this place.
“For generations, the Chaloner family has been deeply rooted in this cherished corner of the country, committed not only to preserving its natural beauty but also to nurturing the community,” he added. “The Sakura Spa represents more than just a new chapter for our hotel, it’s a heartfelt investment in wellbeing, inspired by the surrounding woodland. It is a privilege to help shape something that will serve both our guests and our neighbours for generations to come.”
Spa Business previously reported on a plan for a spa at Gisborough Hall, which did not come to pass.
