Gloucester City eyes groundshare deal
Cheltenham Town Football Club (CTFC) has confirmed that it has held initial discussions with Gloucester City Football Club (GCFC) over the possibility of sharing the Abbey Business Stadium.
GCFC, which currently competes in the Blue Square North competition, was left homeless after it was forced to move out of its Meadow Park ground as a result of flood damage caused in July 2007. The club currently plays at Cirencester Town Football Club having played a season at the home of Forest Green Rovers Football Club, but has entered talks with CTFC over a possible two-year agreement.
CTFC chair Paul Baker said: "We've held some initial talks with Gloucester City. The discussions were positive but we are still in the early stages. "Both clubs have to be sure that a ground-sharing arrangement is right for them and we will be holding further discussions in the near future."
According to GCFC, additional terracing would be required at Cirencester Town Football Club's Corinium Stadium in order to meet Blue Square North standards.
