Go Ape ventures in to Haldon Forest
Go Ape High Wire Forest Adventure plans to open a new site at Haldon Forest Park, near Exeter, next Easter.
The company has already consulted Natural England and a full environmental survey has been conducted. A decision by Teignbridge District Council is now awaited.
If successful, the site will feature zip wires, rope ladders, bridges, Tarzan swings, trapezes and stirrup crossings, allowing visitors to experience the thrills of trekking from tree to tree, around 40 feet above the forest floor.
A spokesperson for Go Ape said: “It’s a great site, and our proposed course location would make use of two large hills, which could mean some of our best zip slides yet!
“We look forward to working with the Forestry Commission to further develop the site and promote healthy outdoor recreation in a beautiful environment.”
Owing to a limited parking capacity at the forest site, Go Ape would create another 80 spaces, doubling the car park’s current size. Only 35 spaces of these spaces would be required by its customers, providing a surplus for visitors to the park.
