Godalming leisure centre plans submitted
Waverley Borough Council (WBC) has revealed that it has received a planning application for the construction of a new leisure centre in Godalming, Surrey.
The proposed development is to be located on a site next to Godalming Lawn Tennis Club and will feature a 25m swimming pool and a learner pool. A 60-station fitness suite, a dance studio and a café are also incorporated into the design of the leisure centre, which will boast a range of energy-saving measures.
ISG has been appointed to deliver the £6m facility, which has been designed by Pozzoni and aims to rival privately operated health clubs. WBC councillor responsible for leisure Roger Steel said: "Building a new leisure centre in Godalming is a top priority for Waverley and receiving the planning application is another major milestone reached."
WBC is likely to decide the fate of the plans in March, with members of the public able to comment until 11 February. The construction phase is expected to take 18 months to complete.
